Match Report

Following a poor run of results we were at home with a reshaped team against 2nd placed Solihull Blossomfield. This time we started positively and had a bout of sustained pressure from the push back leading to a foot on the goal line and a penalty flick converted calmly by Chris Tutton. The passage of play continued with a short corner well converted by Martin Jandu. The defence remained solid and Rich Roberts orchestrated the team defensively very well from his withdrawn position as Sweeper. Rob Hemmings enjoyed some friendly banter with the opposition who were particularly outraged at their forestry chopping being adjudged as fouls. We went in at half time leading 3- 0 after a goal converted by Owen Shave who was well found by Martin .

Following poor recent games there was positivity but caution at half time. The beginning of the second half saw continued positive play but without converting the pressure into a tangible return. With the midfield continuing their excellent play the Old Wulfs defence had little to do in the second half aside from one counter attack from the opposition which led to their solitary goal. The opposition were clearly unsettled by the pressure they were under but we remained calm, left the decisions to the umpires and continued to dominate. We adhered this time to the principle of not giving the ball away cheaply and no one had a bad game.

The team improvement was exemplified in there being multiple candidates for Man of the Match which was tied by Ed Hole, Chris Tutton and Rob Hemmings. The skipper had the final say and it went to Rob.
