Match Report | Away at Stafford to a team skippered by Gareth Minton for pretty much a need to win game. The skipper gave a long pre match speech about playing short “one twos”,not giving the ball away etc. We started the game and within minutes had promptly passed the ball to the opposition and went a goal down. Fortunately following a Short Corner Chris Nightingale managed to rapidly equalise. We then managed some decent play with Joe Satchwell playing short passes to enable good attacking play down the right. Stafford played with a very advanced striker who was well marshalled by Louie throughout the game. However the defence continued to look exposed and we went into the break trailing 4-2 following a Martin Jandu goal after he found himself time and space to nicely slot one past the keeper. The second half didn’t see any improvement Martin and Chris both managed to bag a further goal each but in reality we didn’t look like winning. Stafford managed a further 2 goals and had opportunities for more. We lost 6-4. The skipper was particularly morose afterwards and this was not helped by watching the England v Springboks rugby game (why did he kick at goal on 78 minutes??) Man of the Match Chris Nightingale |
