Match Report This highly anticipated rematch promised to be eventful and so it proved. Unfortunately the quality of hockey was not of the standard of the game earlier in the season.. The first half began promisingly for both sides. Kingswinford played some skilful hockey with some familiar faces enjoying their game, and Wulfs were on the back foot to begin with although looking dangerous on the counter attack. Kingswinford took the lead from a well worked penalty corner, but spurned some good chances to extend the lead before Shave levelled things as Wulfs tore into a static defence. It was another penalty corner that but the home side back ahead, and they could have extended their lead but for a saved penalty stroke. Once again Wulfs proved their ability and pulled it back to 2-2 at the break. The second half was an appalling excuse of an omnishambles. Ablard controlled the ball with his stick in the Wulfs circle. Decision: penalty corner. Following which Pearson was yellow carded for 'sarcasm'. Griffiths went off in his place and there followed a 5 minute discussion between the umpires. Maybe they were discussing the global financial crisis, or perhaps deciding what to have for tea. Kingswinford players kindly helped the umpires with the rules before play finally recommended. All the momentum of the game had been lost, and both sides struggled to play hockey. Soon Wulfs were down to 9 as Ben Hart received a stick to the eye. I think you can all guess whose stick it was! Kingswinford began to score goals as the 9 men struggled. Griffiths then went off injured so the rest of the game was played with 10. Final score 6-2. It was a game spoilt through no fault of the players on the pitch, but a deserved win for Kingswinford.
