Match Report | Once again Wulfs lost a game they largely dominated, and this time to a team one place above in the league. The game began in positive fashion with Wulfs passing the ball nicely, and transferring play from one side of the pitch to the other. Ablard heard the words "Well played Ricky" on several occasions as he aerialed the ball accurately. But it was Leamington who struck first, their route one hockey style paying off when when Wulfs defense was caught out for the first time, resulting in a 2 on 1 situation. When Wulfs struck back almost immediately it seemed like Leamington may crumble. Will Ashworth crashed in a shot low and inside the left post leaving the goalkeeper no chance. However their hard-working midfield made up for deficiencies at the back and despite a number of great chances they kept the score level until a minute before half-time, when once again they caught Wulfs on the break to make it 2-1. The home team were then awarded a stroke by an umpire officiating like he'd suffered one. An embarrassed Leamington player squirted it wide. The second half was a damp squib. Leamington added to their lead in familiar circumstances, and 11 man Wulfs didn't have the energy to fight back, emphasising the need for at least one substitute at this level. Wulfs need some wins, and soon, but there's plenty of heart and confidence in the squad to do just that. |
