1st Team Vs Bloxwich

Wulfs made it back to back wins with a narrow victory over second placed Bloxwich.

The visitors arrived in confident mood, and made life difficult for the Wulfs defense in the opening exchanges. Wasteful passing meant possession was limited, and Bloxwich took the lead deservedly after ten minutes, Pearson left exposed to a one on one situation, not for the first time.

But Wulfs were galvanised by this and began to get a hold on the game. Bloxwich tried to break again on the right hand side but Lally scythed down his man in a none too subtle manner. "Accidental!" screamed the hapless umpire. 

The equaliser came, unusually, thanks to a penalty corner, won by Griffiths after a fantastic solo effort, and unusually he stayed on his feet. Wulfs have been more likely to concede goals from their own penalty corners than score them this season, but Pritchard pounded on the ball to score from close range. Half-time: 1-1.

The second half belonged for the most part to the home side. Wulfs took the lead thanks to a sublime move from defense, where Lally aerialed the ball cross-field to Ben Hart who controlled the descending ball in full-stride. Hart delivered an inch-perfect ball to Shave who slotted it expertly past the 'keeper.

Shave was on hand again to extend the lead to 3-1, and it looked like Wulfs would run away with things with Matt Cartwright dictating play in the middle of the park. But tiring legs contributed to the concession of another goal, and a nervy finish was the result, but Wulfs saw things out.

Not a good time for a gap week, but that's what Wulfs face next week before facing the mighty Market Drayton.
