Match Report | Wulfs toiled in the heat of a late summer at Cosford, as planes, 'copters and trains whizzed past our ears. Temporary skipper Ablard urged his team to play possession hockey, which they did to great aplomb for the first 20 minutes, carving out the occasional opportunity and remaining totally solid in defence. A disgruntled Andy Peters disappeared up his own capacious backside as Shave amongst others effortlessly blocked his progress. Wulfs' confidence was to become their undoing, as they resorted to unwise passes in their own half, resulting in penalty corners and eventually a reverse stick shot catching Pearson unawares. Just before the half-time whistle though Wulfs were back level thanks to a back-post finish from Hart. Despite beginning to wilt in the sun, Wulfs played a controlled 2nd half, and depsite falling behind once again to a perfect drag-flick managed to level things up thanks to Tutton, who also nearly won the game with a pinging volley. Overall a fair result against a team two divisions above us, and an outstanding contribution from Shave tackling back on the left-hand side like a man possessed. |
