Match Report | On a catastrophic pitch at Evesham it was a bare squad of 11 who had made the long journey for a dreaded rearranged league game. Thankfully Adam Aldersley and Simon Evans had stepped in to make a side, while Pershore had an array of substitutes. Things started badly when Wulfs couldn't get into the game early, and soon conceded after a double save from yours truly but we couldn't clear the ball and a follow up shot gave the home side a deserved lead. And they made it 2-0 as the Wulfs defence wilted a little under pressure. Out of nowhere Wulfs began to get back into it, and created some nice chances and a couple of penalty corners. Going into half-time it seemed the game wasn't quite over. Wulfs pulled one back early in the second half. Puv fooled the keeper with a near post effort from a penalty corner, and things were looking up until the home side restored their two goal advantage after an uncharacteristic fluff from the otherwise magnificent Ablard. Sam Aldersley provided the pass that allowed Callum Nightingale to slot home from a tight angle to set up a grandstand finish, and Simon Evans on his 1sts debut stole in at the back post to complete a good team goal supplied by Ablard to level things. Wulfs might have won it with a penalty corner as the seconds ran down, but didn't. No man of the match vote, but I'm giving it to Cartwright. |
