Match Report | A reminder if one was needed of why we play age group games and not badgers. Despite advising the opposition that our team was an U13 team , they turned up with a much older team , 5 of which stayed on to play against our fourth team. But in spite of the age gap out team played brilliantly, Jake going on a fantastic driving run down the right wing, cutting into the D and passing to Joseph who buried is first time shot past the old hales keeper. From then on we played the better hockey , but old hales were always dangerous on the break, where there extra maturity gave them the edge in pace. They scored 2 goals to lead at half time , but there goalkeeper had made a number of saves to keep us down to one goal. Old Wulfs started the second half on fire but just could not score and old hales broke away to lead 3 1. The boys kept on top and some great interplay between Ben Ward and Jake saw the ball crossed into the D and Dylan cheekily left the ball for Isaac to score 3 2 at 50 minutes. The boys gas tanks were pretty much emptied and Old hales age and strength allowed them to run in five late goals. A fantastic effort against overwhelming odds, at some point we will play them in an age group game and I suspect the result will be reversed. Daniel Taylor was voted man of the match. |
