Match Report | The first game of the season for the 4th team brought the visit of Bromsgrove. Unfortunately the away team arrived without any goalkeepers kit. So started the game with a kicking back. Old Wulfs sporting half a squad under the age of 16 bossed the first half and created the best chances. After a number of short corners (we agreed no strikes against their kicking back, only flicks and pushes) the skipper Mann opened the scoring. Just before half time Wulfs keeper Saunders overstretched and pulled his calf. Bromsgrove spiritngly agreed to an early half time. With Saunders unable to continue Munn was volunteered to be our kicking back. Bromsgrove took the opportunity to change their kicking back. Lally missed the opportunity to extend the lead by putting his shot straight at the keepers stick. At the other end Munn demonstrated some fine footwork. At this point we had our final goalkeeping change of the game with Pearson taking over from Munn. After a fine passing move between the youngsters Sankey flicked a shot under the keepers stick to double the lead. Tiredness set in during the last fifteen minutes but the team stood firm. So a win for the new management team of Mann (M) and Mann (R). Lots of positives, good performances from the youngsters, the mature back line kept a clean sheet, injury comebacks from Savage and Fisher (P). Let's keep it going for the rest of the season. |
