Match Report | Old Wulfs 4ths completed their league season with a twice rearranged fixture against Shrewsbury 4ths on a mild Tuesday evening at WGS. Wulfs started strongly and from their first short corner Minton converted with a strong shot. Shrews worked themselves into the game and equalised. From some strong work by Wilson Lally found himself 1 to 1 with the oncoming keeper, a quick angled pass shot found the corner for a half time lead. Wulfs started the second half strongly and from another short Mintons shot hit the post and bounced off the unlucky keepers foot to hit increase the lead. Wulfs then took their foot off the gas and allowed Shrews to claw a goal back and then conceded an equaliser. Rather than drop their heads. Wulfs pushed forward and Minton completed his hattrick with a strong run and shot. Minton finishing the season strongly with 10 goals in his last 5 games. Anderson then found Wilson in the D with a pinpoint pass, Wilson controlled and lifted an exquisite finish into the corner. Finally Lally found himself in the D and a rebounded shot was directed into an empty goal, O'Sullivan making sure from a few millimetres out to bag his 20th league goal of the season. A good way to finish the season where good performances haven't always been reflected in results. A special thanks to the management team of Mann and Mann for an enjoyable campaign. Also thanks to all the players who have played for the fourths this season especially the regulars Horton, Savage, Anderson, Munn, Wilson, Carver and Ward. Also thanks to all those who have regularly guested - Cooper R, Cooper A Sr, Cooper A Jr, Fisher P, Fisher J, Sankey, Minton, O'Sullivan, Jandu and Wall I. And then thanks to everyone I've not mentioned who've contributed to a long campaign. Hopefully see as many forth teamers as possible at the awards evening. Kram Lally |
