Match Report | An early start today for the 4ths away today at Lichfield. The home side contained a blend of teenagers and twentysomethings , the Wulfs brought a maturer line-up. The home side started the better of the sides stretching the Wulfs with pace and good movement. They deservedly took the lead with a crisp passing move. Wulfs worked their way into the game and held the upper hand for the second part of the half. Savage marshalling his backline of Cooper Sr, Munn, Horton and Carver to contain their much younger foes. Anderson and Mann containing the midfield and feeding Wilson, Becket, Maundrell and Lally who started to get their passing game going. After a Becket run , he fed Wilson who put a through ball into Lally who evaded the last defender and slid home past the oncoming goalkeeper. Mann could have put Wulfs into the lead but his short corner effort went just wide of the post. Unfortunately the pendulum in the second half swung back in favour of Lichfield, pacey attacking adding two more goals. The second after an excellent double save from Horton, unfortunately unable to keep out the next rebound. Lally had the chance to reduce the deficit from an aerial Mann pass, but his effort came off the keepers pads. On the final whistle Lally and Maundrell couldn't finish an Anderson short corner cross. What would have been a consolation effort then became a lost opportunity when the umpire announced she'd had blown the whistle five minutes early. With both teams having left the pitch, a restart was agreed. Five more minutes to decide the game. Wulfs attacked with great intensity but unfortunately conceded another on the break. Final score a 4-1 defeat but with good passages of play from the Wulfs. |
