Match Report | Another bitterly cold day saw us turn up to play Redditch at WGS with 13 mostly fit players. Redditch started strongly with their youngsters, bolstered by some experience, giving us the run around. Redditch took the lead after 10 minutes with a well worked passing move and crisply taken finish for 0-1. We struggled to get to grips with the game and quickly conceded another for 0-2. Strangely this seemed to settle the nerves and the midfield began to cancel out the Redditch attacks. A period of pressure from us saw Dunn receive the ball wide on the left of the D and he rifled his reverse stick shot in off the inside of the far post for 1-2. We created a few more good chances with Minton and Lait both looking like they were going to score but the half finished 1-2 The second half was a messy affair with tempers fraying as both midfields battled for control. The score remained at 1-2 with chances going begging at either end until the last few seconds of the game when Old Wulfs won a Penalty Corner. Queue the chance to flood forward and keep the penalty alive. Cooper took up a position inside 5M from the top of the D to collect any miss controlled efforts and Jandu did just that, the ball deflecting off his stick to Cooper who calmly controlled the bobbler and sent it back to Jandu who turned and shot powerfully into the corner of the goal to finish the game 2-2. |
