Match Report | This weeks game saw the return of the Captain (good timing as the stand in for the previous two weeks was having a week off) following his inpromptu swim in Padstow Harbour. We were up against Kings Heath Pickwick in what turned out to be a very one sided game. From what i can remember it went something like, attack, shot, miss, attack, shot, save, attack, short corner, goal (courtesy of a Ricky low drag flick), attack, shot, miss, attack, shot, save etc etc There were a few moments of note, in particular a spectacular save from the Pickwick keeper after Andy broke into the top of the D and unleashed a rocket bound for the top corner only to be tipped onto the cross bar by the keeper who also got up quickly to save the follow up shot from Ed. It was a frustrating afternoon where we had a hatful of chances that were either thwarted by the keeper or were not displatched with the necessary amount of aplomb Pickwick had very little in terms of an attacking presence but they did win a short corner with a few minutes to go. There centre forward, complete with 1970's headband, broke into the top of our D and was fouled resulting in him going down so theatrically it was reminiscent of Jurgen Klinsman in his prime. Fotunately, they failed to convert. They also had a break away in the dying seconds and were outnumbering our defense but fortunately the young Pickwick forward made the mistake of trying to go past Al imprenetrable Thomson who smartly took the ball of him to ensure we ran out winners. Msan of the Match - Andy Hobley Notable Mention - Chris " J P Knight" Nightingale for coming to watch on his "week off"
