Match Report | So much for our nearest rivals in the league then. We came expecting a battle after beating KH at home 2-1 earlier in the season, but on a soggy sponge of a pitch Wulfs swept away the opposition. Kings Heath started brightly though, building from the back with some impressive crisp passing through the centre of the pitch. However they found no route through the Wulfs phlegmatic defence, and Wulfs were soon in the ascendancy. Three goals quickly followed as the torpid home defenders discovered they were unable to keep the wolf from the door as Hobley, Taylor, Harris et al danced a pretty fandango though to goal. Wulfs finishing prowess was expedited by a goalie who had a nightmare and I wouldn't have like to have been his cat on Saturday night. King's Heath grabbed a strange goal when Wulfs conceded a disputed penalty corner, then when Ablard expertly deflected into his own goal the umpire tried his best to disallow it to everyone's stupefaction. Wulfs were undeterred and grabbed another by halftime. The second half continued in a similar vein with an increasingly frustrated home side losing their temper in humorous style and a smattering of cards. Taylor completed a hattrick that was only spoilt by the lack of a jug. (Fine) Griffiths followed up a pass with a barnstorming run to get on the end of Ashworths return, only for Will to lob the keeper and score himself and Griff clattering the backboard. After the eighth goal Harris and Nightingale began shaking hands with the oppostion. They thought it was all over. Also worth a fine. Now it's time for a tough run in but our form should give us the confidence to win plenty more before the long summer break. |
