Match Report | Wales is another country and they do things differently there. Electricity hasn't reached Newtown so we had to bring the game forward by an hour to avoid playing in total darkness. The other thing about Wales is there is only 70 minutes of daylight this time of year. Anyway we had a warm welcome in the valleys, especially Andy Hobley who was hit by the ball on every part of his body. To be fair the headshot was inflicted by one of his own team. Didn't stop him getting the man of the match vote though for a performance full of energy. Newtown posed a threat early on with some lively attacking play, but Wulfs soon took control of midfield; Taylor finding plenty of space to maraud down the right and Griffiths finding himself up against an ageing defender on the other side. Ashworth scored the opener before Harris scored the goal of the game, deflecting a cross in after an incisive passing move including half the team. Newtown got one back before the half from a penalty corner. Wulfs dominated in the second period, sealing the win with goals from Ablard and Hobley. Still undefeated in 2018 but with tough games coming after a gap week next week. |
