Match Report | A crucial game for OWHC as they took on 2nd place Kings Heath while lying in 3rd. The game started off with OWHC controlling the ball and forcing Kings Heath to work harder than they would have liked. Chances, however, were few and far in the opening stages of the game. A short corner was won and a superb save from the Kings Heath keeper prevented Shave's drag flick going into the top corner. Kings Heath replied with a drag flick of their own, but this was repelled by Craig Thomas. Towards the later stages of the first half, Shave found some room in the middle of the pitch and after beating two men ran to the top corner of the D to reverse hit a low shot that flew into the far bottom corner to give OWHC the lead. Confusion reigned as Kings Heath felt the shot had been played outside of the D (it wasn't) and OWHC were shocked by the level of skill involved! Half time: OWHC 1-0 Kings Heath OWHC began the second half superbly and were firmly in control. Good work among Puv Samra, Simon Palmer and Matt Litchfield at the back ensured OWHC remained in control. The game opened up but OWHC seemed to lack the killer pass to a free man at the back post/in the D. Following a ball on the 18 for Kings Heath, they sought to play it forward quickly. Ash Taylor, however, intercepted the ball and fed Shave who played the ball across goal to allow Callum to finish beyond the diving keeper. The game reached, however, a nervy ending. Kings Heath pulled back a goal through a drag flick (former player Mark Wilson showing the cliche of players scoring against their former sides doesn't just apply to professional football). The game reached a scrappy period, Puv Samra was the victim of a dangerously swung elbow but manfully carried on. OWHC managed to firmly control the ball for the final minutes of the clock to secure a vital win. Full time: OWHC 2-1 Kings Heath Man of the match: Puv Samra |
