Match Report | The last game of the season and we were looking for the win. Droitwich had travelled to try and obtain the 3 points from us. With no possible way of getting higher than third place in the league, we were playing for pride. Old Wulfs with the bare 11 knew they needed to push hard, with Chris N 1 goal ahead of Callum in the goalscoring table, there was pressure on Callum to regain the lead for the final time this season. At the start of the first half we were pressing hard yet the ball was travelling back and forth between the two teams, this meant we had to keep them in their half. However, this didn’t go as planned due to the fact that a couple of minutes later, Droitwich managed to steal the ball off of us and took the chance to pass up the pitch, taking us on the break, to score a ball passed across the Dee which was slapped in just out of Luke’s reach. We went into half time 1-0 down. The half time team talk from our stand in captain, Chris Nightingale, consisted of the conversation of us getting back to our passing ways that we can score from. With it being there push from the half, we pressed to get the vital goal to bring it back to 1-1. As we worked away towards the final whistle with 20 minutes to go a ball was slapped across from Buckley on the wing into the Dee where Callum was waiting for the ball which was took around the keeper and calmly pushed into the goal to bring the game to 1-1 and get Callum and Chris equal in the goal scoring table for the second team. 5 minutes later, some great passing play was achieved through the middle and into the opposing 23 where a ball was put onto a Droitwich foot. The quick ball was played by Callum who saw the opportunity to run into the Dee and hit the ball over the keeper’s leg into the far side netting of the goal. 2-1 to Old Wulfs with Callum ahead in goals. As time went by we had chance after chance with several goals missed, mostly by Callum. But from these chances, a short corner arose and was played which resulted in the ball being fed to Ryan who calmly slotted the ball past Droitwich’s goal keeper. The final score was 3-1 with a great effort all round with some great team play to finish off the season nicely in third place, just missing out on promotion once again.
