Match Report | Really an U13 game as far as we were concerned, old man and captain Ben Wall our oldest player at the age of 13. We had a squad of 14 players with 3 regulars who attend training unavailable . So if we can keep this very young group together the future is bright. Finchfield our opposition fielded a side with some youngsters and four or five older players, most clubs are not in the happy position of being able to field a full u13 side. So thanks to finches for fielding the youngest side they could . To start with our boys were a little off put by the size of the opposition , and sat back with all players in our half of the pitch. Noah on debut , Rajvir and Fin worked hard to keep finches out and supplemented by Ben and some fine saves by Dan kept Finches out for 20 mins . Eventually we conceded a goal , we then had our best period of the game, with good passing from , Jack, James , Jake and Harry linking with forwards Dylan and Joe We created two good chances and placed shots on target . Eventually we broke again with Joe outpacing the finches defence and finishing well. 1 -1 at halftime . The boys battled hard in the second half with some great last Ditch tackles from Ricky and Billy, Some good forward breaks by Rocco and Finn. Lots of midfield effort from Ben ; Jake and Harry. But finches eventually ran out 5 1 winners. The boys correctly identified that we need to work on getting the ball up the pitch quickly from our 16 yard hit outs. So the more we practice the better we will get. Training on Tuesday 7pm WGS . Overall a very good effort , Dan was voted man of the match followed by Ben. |
