Match Report |
4th Team 0 2 Coventry & North Warks
We took a day trip to Coventry for a friendly fixture with a couple of new faces and a good mixture of more mature lads. A big welcome back to Ray Jeff who now plays with a pair of goggles, which unlike last Wednesday evening, did not steam up.
Sahib Duhra, son of Harj made his debut for 4th team, having played last year for the Badgers. We also welcomed Ian Wall, who has been running the Badgers for a few years, and expect to see him featuring regularly in the league teams.
Coventry & North Warks fielded a number of very talented youngsters, especially their 2 13 year olds, and a few old heads.
Game was fairly even until mid way through first half until we conceded a short corner, which gave their captain the chance to score with a well struck shot. Shortly after we conceded another short corner which again was well struck, however the ball hit our skipper on the foot, which resulted in a penalty stroke which was converted.
Half time a couple of subtle alterations were made, and we were reminded by Mr Jeff that we were starting the second half at nil all.
We managed to get in front of their players in the second half, and also hold possession for longer, however we did well not to concede again. Pleasing to see that we kept trying to score and kept going until the end.
A good game played in a good spirit, and nice to see encouragement from 2nd team who were due to play after us.
There was no outstanding performances, however everybody played well against a youthful and skilful well organised team.
