Match Report

There is no getting away from this scoreline when you read the result but it doesn't really do Old Wulfs justice. To quote Rob, "I've experienced far worse 7-0 games than that". We were beaten by a very strong side, however, for much of the match we put up a good fight and created several chances.

A bare 11 travelled to Coventry and faced a team that I don't believe we will see the likes of again this season, therefore it's important to focus on the positives:
- Matt Cartwright had a solid game in central midfield and despite classing himself as "rusty", provided great distribution to the forwards all match and showed an incredible work rate along with the always dependable Stu Upton.
- Sam Aldersley again had a strong game with good movement up front which Coventry's defence struggled to cope with, particularly with Buckley supporting along side.
- Hugh Churn seemed unphased by a first 2nd team game of the season and was calm in possession and made promising runs forward.
- Andy Cooper provided a brilliant outlet with his aerial balls which both relieved pressure on the defence and gave the forwards genuine opportunities, definitely something to be encouraged this season.
- Rob Hemmings, Al brown and Chris Nightingale worked tirelessly all game in defence and along with Col really kept us in the game against some quality attacking players.

This game was tough for everyone but if some of the hockey played can be taken into the league campaign then it promises to be an exciting season!
