Match Report | The first friendly of the season brought the visit of a youthful Wednesbury side. Old Wulfs started the game sluggishly, and found themselves 2-0 down within twenty minutes. Wulfs bossed the rest of the half and were unlucky not to be awarded a penalty stroke for a foul on Mann. Wulfs continued to press and won a series of short corners which couldn't be converted. The second half began evenly with both sides carving out chances. Lait had a shot saved well by the keeper. Bhav had a couple of good wide run and crosses but alas no conversion. At the other end Wulfs lost possession and were punished by the more clinical Wednesbury attack. Wulfs continued to battle and from another short, stand in skipper Lally dodged two defenders to smash home. More attacks followed also no clear cut opportunities. Near the end Wedesbury scored again to extend their lead. Wulfs replied immediately with a fortunate goal. Lally' s speculative cross shot managed to evade the keeper who was put off by the oncoming Bhav. A fairly even game but the opposition proved more clinical with their finishing, played in a very good spirit by both sides. A special note - this was young Ray Jeff's first game on the new astro at WGS. |
