Match Report | The fourths entertained Finchfield in a keenly contested local derby The opposition arrived with an experienced line-up and bossed the early exchanges. An early exchange of passes brought Finches an opening goal. Wulfs began to work their way into the game and enjoyed some possession, from a wide position Lally (R) put a thunderbolt pass into the D, O'Sullivan deflected the ball past the keeper for the equaliser. Just before half time Finches took the lead again from a short corner. In the second half both sides made chances. Finches had numerical advantage on a number of occasions but we're thwarted by poor decision-making or by the central defensive pairing of Hill and Mann. At the other end Anderson was making his presence felt in central midfield and the aerial threat of Lally (R) was proving an effective method of mounting attacks. Wulfs created a number of chances to equalise the closest being - A 1 on 1 where Lally (K) nicked the ball past the oncoming keeper, as the ball trickled goalwards a defender arrived and cleared off the line - A cross which hit a couple of defenders before going marginally wide - An Anderson short corner shot which was deemed to be going above the back board At the end of the game opposition tempers frayed and there were a couple of green cards and a yellow awarded for comments made to the umpire. Another defeat but again lots of commitment shown, the games are running out and we need to start putting some points on the board. |
