Match Report | The fourths travelled to Telford in the last game before the winter break. With both sides propping up the table, there was plenty to play for. Circumstances dictated a much changed team and a rejigged formation. The first half was a tense affair with few chances but Telford had more of the possession. Both sides started brightly in the 2nd half, Wulfs had a spell of 10 minutes where they were unlucky not to take the lead. First Duhra (S) connected to a deflected pass from the skipper and his goalbound shot for a second looked like it was going to go through the keepers legs. However the keeper managed to adjust and the ball came back off his pads. Minutes later Jones picked up a loose ball at the edge of the D and his goalbound shout was well saved by the keeper. The near misses seemed to energize Telford, who then took control of the game. Their young striker who had been a handful all game went on a run and put a shot low into the corner. Wulfs struggled to keep the ball and then conceded another goal. A 2-0 defeat puts us bottom of the table going into the New Year. The team will need a significant improvement to avoid relegation, but I believe that if we work together anything is possible. Thank you to those players who stepped in this week, we fell just short but the team put in a creditable performance. Finally we say farewell to one of our regular players David Hosking, who is leaving the area to go and live in Aberdeen. David we thank you for your efforts over the last few years and you're welcome back anytime. |
