Match Report | Another week and another tough fixture, against Edgbaston 5ths who came down from the league above. Edgbaston were simply a better unit today, dominating possession throughout the game. Wulfs couldn't get out their half and struggled to mount any kind of passing game. The defence battled throughout and Dilworth in goal was immense, easily our man of the match. In the first half we frustrated the opposition but they eventually managed put 3 goals in. Wulfs only real chance of the half was unusual to say the least. Lally raced onto a Sahib through ball. The keeper was well ahead of the chase but inexplicably kicked when 10 yards outside the D. After some deliberation the keeper was given a green card and Wulfs were awarded a short corner. With a kicking back in place, Wulfs couldn't get a shot off. In the 2nd half the defence ably assisted by the midfield tried to repel the home onslaught. We kept them down to two more goals. Sandwiched in between was a goal from Lait who ran half the length of the pitch to be fed by O'Sullivan, with two defenders still in chase, Lait forced the ball past the keeper into the net. A defeat, but the team continued to work for each other. In the coming weeks we need to add some guile to that world rate. |
