Man of the match ........ Jack Pearson
The Old Wulfs 3rd team this week were faced with Solihull just a few games before finishing the season. Old Wulfs’ objective was to go out and enjoy the game since promotion was no longer a reachable objective.
With no pressure on Old Wulfs’ shoulders, the team went out a lot more relaxed and with good morale and this helped them to create free flowing hockey with lots of chances being created in the D from the get go. A few chances arose for Old Wulfs early on but the first goal came from Jandu after the ball fell straight to his stick after a ball from Si was sent into the D. the game went on and due to the oppositions lack of pace, Old Wulfs found it easy to exploit through balls and clean dribbling to allow shots to be taken at goal. However despite these chances Old Wulfs were unable to grab another goal before the whistle blew for half time.
The second half started and to the surprise of Old Wulfs, Solihull started with a lot more energy than they showed in the first half and were able to work their way into the D a few times however their chances were unable to beat Craig in goal who did well to save the few chances that did threaten the goal. The game was fairly end to end with both teams managing to create various chances to get into the D however after many short corners the second goal came from Old Wulfs again as the short corner eventually fell to Ed on the top of the D who slaps a ball in to the mix for Si to deflect the goal to make the score 2-0. Not much longer after this goal was scored Old Wulfs’ third goal came from Jandu again who similarly to the second goal, deflects the ball into a goal after a strong ball from Owain was played into the mix. Despite Solihull’s efforts they were unable to get back into the game and the final whistle blew to make the game 3-0.
A solid away win from the lads and hopefully they will be able to keep this good form up until the end of the season for them to be able to finish in a respectable position.
