Match Report | Man of the Match ......... Jack Pearson This weekend featured not just one game for Old Wulfrunians’ third team but rather back to back games, the first of which was away to a strong Redditch side with a lot of young legs and experienced players. The third team also saw Jack Pearson make his third team debut, the first of hopefully many to come. The game started and Old Wulfs despite showing a lot of determination to attack the oppositions net and to create chances with the ball unfortunately conceded a goal early on from a wonder strike from one of Redditch’s prolific midfielders who had an outstanding game and made life very difficult for Old Wulfrunians. Old Wulfrunians tried desperately to bounce back with an equaliser but were unfortunate to not be able to find glory in the first half unlike Redditch who got an impressive 4 goals in the first half and were able to use their pace and experience efficiently on a pitch that clearly fitted their play style better than Old Wulfs’. After a motivating half time team talk from the skipper the team didn’t drop their heads and Seb managed to spark a smidge of hope back into the Old Wulfs team with a goal off of a short corner where the team successfully worked the ball around the keeper and into the goal to make it 4-1. However this only turned out to be a consolation goal as Redditch kept scoring and were really clinical in front of net and managed to defeat an Old Wulfs side that weren’t able to defend such a strong opponent and the final whistle claimed Redditch victors in a game that was honestly won in the first half. So a bad result for Old Wulfs against Redditch however this game can be used as a way to see how the team can improve on upcoming games and hopefully they can learn from this so they still have a chance of getting promoted next season. |
