Match Report | man of the match Matt willies This week’s game was against a Solihull Blossomhill side that are currently at the bottom of the table this season, however in this game no one expected the team to play as well as they did against an Old Wulfs side that are currently top of the league. The game started the same as it always does, a lot of pressure and attacking play from the get go, not just from Old Wulfs but also from Solihull who had a brilliant game despite what the final score was. Old Wulfs created many opportunities within this game but were very unfortunate not to finish a lot of chances that were either saved by a Solihull keeper that was on top form or went off target. Despite the missed opportunities early on a goal did eventually come from clinical finisher Martin Jandu who patiently waited for the keeper to be out of position before striking the ball into the bottom left corner putting Old Wulfs up 1-0 in a game that was a lot harder than expected. The first half ended 1-0 with Solihull putting up a solid fight and managed to prevent many chances from becoming goals. The second half started and Old Wulfs were determined to increase the score line and to gain 3 points from a game that judging by the first half could go either way, despite the 2 teams being in completely different positions in the table. And this determination soon lead to an early second goal coming from an effortless run by Seb down the right hand side and playing a square ball into Jandu who places the ball in the net to make it 2-0. This second goal turned into the start of the end with Willies, Thompson and Jandu sharing 4 goals between them (Jandu bagging 4 goals in this game). However Old Wulfs had started to slack towards the dying minutes of the game which lead to a consolation goal from Solihull however this did not affect the end result of the game with the final score being 6-1. Another brilliant win from the lads this week and this keeps the Old Wulfs 3rd team unbeaten after many games played this season and puts us top of the table. Great work!
