Match Report

After a shaky start to the season with a defeat in the first game, the lads at Old Wulfs were striving to grab a solid result in what looked like a tough game for the lads against Aldridge and Walsall.

And they did not disappoint…

As soon as the game started, there were attacks instantly from both teams. Both teams were applying pressure to each teams goal and from the get go the game was looking like a very evenly matched end to end game. But the first goal did come from Aldridge who managed to counter attack and play a nice threaded through ball to the left post for the ball to be slotted away nicely past the keeper. The first goal usually shapes the way the game is going to go however for Old Wulfs it only gave us more motivation and determination to bounce back with an instant reply from Sam, who managed to dribble through the midfield and set up Jandu nicely, who then held the ball up waiting for the right time to strike and as soon as the keeper was out of position he struck the ball straight into the bottom corner to level the score. This saw the result at half time at 1-1.

The second half started no different to the first half with many attacks and threatening chances to each team’s goal. The game was beginning to look like a deadlocked game with neither team being able to put their chances away however the third goal came from a beautiful long ball from Owain straight through to Sam who hits a powerful ball straight into the bottom corner to put Old Wulfs up 2-1.

The mighty Wulfs didn’t stop there though because a few minutes later Old Wulfs’ third goal came from Jandu yet again who collects the ball from Seb’s pass on the edge of the D and he strikes the ball into the goal to give Wulfs a 3-1 lead against Aldridge. As the game progressed another goal came from Old Wulfs this time from Matt, who after some passing play from the attackers, collects the ball on the reverse to give Wulfs an even larger lead. And just at the end to put the icing on the cake Jandu completes his hatrick off a short corner to seal the victory for Old Wulfs against Aldridge.

So with a 5-1 win in the bag for Old Wulfs the team spirit is high for the lads who will hope to recreate such a successful result in the future games to come.
