Match Report | We won, that's the important thing, and it's a fact spectators were quick to point out when they saw wulfs walk off the pitch. It's an important win with results around us going our way but we'd happily not play another game like that all season. The goal came after a good interception in midfield led to Simon being fed the ball out wide. He was able to cut inside and play a ball across to Tibble who made no mistake dispatching the ball into the far corner. This was an incredibly scrappy match which with a narrow score difference throughout, inevitably became heated and unpleasant. Solihull were unhappy with decisions and the constant complaining started to grate on wulfs and tempers flared. This is something we need to sort out as it doesn't help us and we do have a tendency to turn on each other when things aren't going as we'd like. Anyway, to focus on some positives...because there definitely were some! 3 players had league debuts in the 2nds this week and all 3 looked calm, composed and at home in the fixture. Simon Evans was a constant threat at left mid, creating the goal and not giving the Solihull defence a minute to rest. Elliot Gwilt was solid at right back, and made good progress up the pitch with promising balls through to the attackers, looking comfortable in possession. Harj Duhra was the epitome of calm in defence, clearing the ball out when necessary but also able to put powerful balls through to the attackers to relieve pressure on the wulfs defence. There was a lot of pressure from Solihull during the match and Luke Archer produced another man of the match performance and preserved his clean sheet fiercely. Even after taking a blow to the stomach from an over enthusiastic Solihull forward he was able to clear the danger and ensure wulfs claimed the badly needed 3 points. Next week is the big local derby! |
