Match Report

This week, Wulfs had the unenviable trip down to Reddich to look forward to. Unenviable, not just because of their pitch, full of more bumps and ramps that would be better suited to a skate park, but because the opposition were flying high at the top of the league.

At the start of the game it looked as though this league position was well founded, as Reddich took advantage of an Old Wulfs team that emerged at a glacial pace from the blocks. Two well taken goals in the first ten minutes and it looked as though the game was all but over. However, once Wulfs found some concentration, the tie gradually became more even and the score was kept the same until half time.

The second half continued in much the same vein, and this seemed to rile Reddich, who were surely hoping for a whitewash after their quick start. This seemed to lead them to take their fury out on Old Wulfs sticks and legs, with some vicious tackles flying in. In turn, especially since the umpires’ cards inexplicably remained inside their pockets, this caused one or two Wulfs players to retaliate (Step forward Chris Tibble and Will Ashworth).

By the time all of the handbags had been put away, it seemed the 70 minutes was up and the game ended 2-0. Whoops.
