Match Report | Old Wulfs in a good run of form played this week against a resolute Yardley side. The early signs in the game looked promising for Old Wulfs as they pressed Yardley and won the ball high up the pitch. However the final ball at times was lacking and chances went begging. The Break through goal came through a scrap in the dee and a tap in for Sam opened the scoring. Yardley however continued to press and broke through the Old Wulfs lines at times fortuitous as balls bobbled over sticks, but they deservedly drew level after they converted the rebound on a short corner.
Old Wulfs knew they were playing badly and had to up their game and did so in the second half. Another tap in after a goal mouth scramble gave Old Wulfs a 2-1 lead which was eventually made 3-1 as Ablard stepped in front of his man and set up Will for a deflection. This seemed to calm Old Wulfs as they killed the game off. the 4th and final goal came from a short corner deflection, as Griff deflected in at the far post.
No where near the standards Old Wulfs expects however 3 points gained and another win. Credit must be given to Yardley and especially their keeper as they made a game of it and some superb saves kept the score close. However any increase in the score line for Old Wulfs would have given the game an unfair reflection of how even the play was.
