Match Report | On a cold wet miserable evening in Newport, Old Wulfs met Bridgnorth 5ths in a rearranged fixture. A youthful Bridgnorth side played some nice Hockey but lacked a cutting edge against their more experienced opponents. The game sprang to life near the end of the first half (after the torrential rain subsided), Old Wulfs went down to 10 men after the umpire objected to some particularly colourful language. This appeared to galvanize the Wulfs who kept a good shape and choke the creativity out of their opponents. On the break the ball entered the Bridgnorth D where goalkeeper and defender left it to each other to clear, in slipped O'Sullivan to roll the ball home. In the 2nd half Wulfs took control with Buckley and Harrison bossing central midfield, loads of selfless running from Dilraj, Murray and Evans linking well Lally and O'Sullivan. Lally, O'Sullivan and Murray scorned chances, but the next goal was soon to come. From a short corner nobody came out to close Harrison, He edged forward and eventually unleashed a shot. Goalbound as it were the last touch actually came from Buckley (one for the Goals Panel to adjudicate). The next goal soon followed, The Bridgnorth goalie stopped a shot, but hesitated in clearing the ball fully, a grateful Lally slipped the ball in from a matter of inches. 3-0 it finished and back to winning ways for Old Wulfs. Some Honourable Mentions for the defence Rob Bolus - Playing his first game of the season produced an energetic display. Duhra - Completely marked the Bridgnorth danger man out of the game Hosking - Playing out of his normal position, lots of tough tackling to break up play Captain Hamilton - swept up on the odd occaison the ball got past the three in front of him.
