Match Report | The scoreline fairly reflects the game, although without key players Humpherson (man-flu) and Ablard (having a life) it was always a tough proposition against newly promoted and strengthened Finchfield. To make matters worse Ricky Lally declared himself unfit to play during the warm-up, leaving us with the bare 11 including hamstrung Brown. Despite this, Wulfs began strongly, attacking with pace and precision. Tutton was busy on the left filling the hole left by Griffiths who'd moved into the middle. George Jandu playing his first full game for the 1st XI troubled the Finches defenders with good movement and tricksy play. Unfortunately a series of errors lead to disaster. Wulfs gave the ball away twice in vulnerable areas and paid the price in goals, then a poor Wulfs penalty corner resulted in a third before half-time. The second half began well but soon the inevitable fatigue of the 11 meant Finches dominated with wave after wave of attack and four more goals in the second half. Plenty to ponder after this game but also plenty to be optimistic about with several players still to get their pre-season chance. |
