4th Team Vs Stafford 4

The final game of the season brought the visit of bottom team Stafford.

In a pretty one sided half the only breakthrough was an O'Sullivan strike on the reverse blade from his own run. Lally had a deflected shot saved by the keeper and Wall almost converted from an O'Sullivan cross.

The second half brought more of the same with Mann and Artist bossing the midfield, Carver and Hill tidying up to allow the fullbacks Hosking and Duhra to push.

We had a number of good chances

- Samra had two saved by the keeper off shots from his own runs.

- Artist went close off some short corners

The goals that were scored came from Lally and another from O'Sullivan. Lally converting from an O'Sullivan pass. O'Sullivan scoring from a 1 on 1 after good work from Mann.

Special mention to Hosking for a fine performance.

So the season ends on a high with us probably finishing in the top 4, a creditable finish for a promoted side.

Apologies but a few shout outs for the season.

The skipper - Captain Hamilton has led his troops to a fine finish this season.

The regulars - Dilworth, Hill, Carver, Harrison, Mann, Lally, O'Sullivan and Hamilton have played the majority of the games this season creating an excellent team spirit.

The Youngbloods - great seasons for our triumvirate of Buckley, Murray and Samra, the first two being promoted up the club and the latter easily one of the best players in the second half of the season.

The reliables - the likes of Munn, Savage, Duhra, Hosking, Carver (E) and Evans have all come in and done a great job on a number of occasions this season.

The returned - after a five year campaign by the skipper (he plays the long game) he succeeded in tempting Artist out of retirement(13 years). Improvement week on week to such an extent that today's side were complaining about the first teamer.

The one weekers - the 4ths used roughly 42 players this season, thanks to the guys who turned out only once for us.

Finally thanks to all the home umpires that officiated this season.
