Match Report | When we played Shrewsbury earlier in the season we suffered a narrow 3-2 defeat. The side we faced in the return fixture had a more youthful feel to it. Possession in the first half was fairly even but Old Wulfs created more chances. O'Sullivan opened the scoring with a deft touch off an Evans cross. Towards the end of the half against the run of play Shrews equalised from a deflection at the edge of the D. From the restart Lally dribbled the ball into the opposition D but couldn't get a shot off. The opposition then decided that Samra wasn't worth marking, he ended up with two 1 on 1 chances. The first hit the keepers pads, the second he rounded the keeper but the angle was too wide for the shot. In the second half the Wulfs defence and midfield completely snuffed out any Shrews attacking intent. At the other end a 10 minutes Wulfs blitz at the start of the half killed off the game. Samra finally getting the goal his attacking play merited. O'Sullivan firing home after good work from Carver (E). O'Sullivan claiming his hat trick from a Samra cross. The rest of the half was spent mostly in the the Shrews half but we could only claim 1 more goal. O'Sullivan scoring his fourth from another Samra cross. In the final seconds O'Sullivan shot, as Lally was about to tap the ball home, the umpire blew for full time, the ball rolled into the net ( possibly significant moment for the club goalscoring charts). A fantastic 5-1 away win and another great team performance. Next week we finish our league campaign with the visit of bottom placed Stafford. Let's finish the season on a high. |
