Match Report | A top of the table clash brought Bridgnorth 4ths first in the table to play Old Wulfs who sat a point behind in the table in third. So plenty to play for. The game began before the worst of the days weather. Keeper Dillworth marshalling a 'mature' back four with over 200 years between them. In contrast in midfield we fielded our youngest quartet of the season - Hosking, Buckley, Dilraj and Carver (E), less than a hundred years between them. Up front we welcomed Evans, returning from injury to play alongside Murray. In the first half the Wulfs were the better team, mopping up in defence, marauding in midfield and mesmerising the Bridgnorth defence. Unfortunately we didn't put any of our chances away. Cue the inevitable, Bridgnorth scoring with their only chance of the half, a deflected short corner. At half time Captain Hamilton rallied the troops, Hill succumbed to a tweaked calf and the skipper replaced him. The first 10 minutes of the 2nd half brought Wulfs most dominant spell of the game. Evans won a short corner and proceeded to convert. It now looked like there was only going to be a home victory with Buckley, Dilraj and Evans rampaging forward at every opportunity. Against the run of play the opposition forged another attack and scored a scrappy goal. For the rest of the game Old Wulfs bossed but couldn't find an equaliser. A good team performance with unfortunately no end result. A young Bridgnorth side prevailing with less possession and less of the chances, much like we've done to many of our opponents this season. Next week we travel to Sutton Coldfield. |
