Match Report | Old Wulfs travelled to local rivals Finchfield who both started the game level on points. As per the norm we fielded a handful of changes from our previous game. Finches started the better side and scored from a short corner. Undaunted Wulfs went down the other end and won their own short corner. Stand in skipper Harrison converting from a save to his initial effort. Parity didn't last long, Finches bossed possession but only looked dangerous from short corners. Cue another short corner and another goal. Then came a crazy spellof hockey where Lally scored a hat trick in less than ten minutes. The first from a Harrison through ball, a first time shot slid under the keeper. The second from a Buckley pass finding Lally unmarked in the D, the keeper dived at his feet but the ball was free to be rolled in. The hat trick was completed after Hosking and Dilraj caused chaos in the D allowing Lally to roll the ball home. In an eventful half there were no more goals. The 2nd half was dominated by Finches but again the only moments of real danger came from short corners. The defence of Dillworth, Carver, Hill, Duhra and Savage kept the Wulfs ahead in a tense 2nd half. The only breach was again from a short corner. Wulfs couldn't maintain any possession which meant Finches continued to press. In a rare attack Harrison won a short corner but unhappy about the challenge that earned it petulantly threw his stick, cue a green card. Wulfs held on for the win and could have increased the lead at the death when Murray was thwarted after an excellent run. Four goals but this game was definitely won by the resolve of the Wulfs defence.
