Match Report | Profligate With a team showing 5 changes from last week (including stand in skipper Lally) Old Wulfs entertained a young Bridgnorth fifth team.
The new line-up started much the better and should have been 3-0 up within the first 15 minutes. However the theme of the game was missed opportunities and the home team found themselves only 1-0 up (Dilraaj Samra scoring his 4th league goal of the season).
Bridgnorth then took control with their senior player in central midfield dictating the play and allowing the youngsters to express themselves. Two away goals followed to give them a half time lead of 2-1.
The second half brought a change in Old wulfs formation bringing an extra player into midfield. The change brought immediate dividends and Matt Lewis equalised. Our efforts to nullify the opposition central midfield forced some of their youngsters to step up and get into the game and after a near miss they took the lead again, a deflected shot looping over Dilworth and evading the defender on the line.
Old wulfs continued to make chances but the pattern of waste continued, Lally not for the first time trying to pass rather than shoot. Mann wasting an excellent short corner opportunity. The best chance of the game fell to Lewis but in microcosm of the whole game he struggled to get his shot off when 1on 1 with the keeper.
A draw would been a fair result, but unfortunately we didn't take our chances.
Thanks to those filling in for the player absences (today's back 4 had a combined age of around 220), but an ever changing line-up won't breed any kind of consistency. |
