Match Report | Another week, another narrow defeat. This time we were without 4 regulars, Ablard and Humpherson with injury, Ashworth and Palmer unavailable. In stepped Ed Hole and Andy Peters. Furthermore Al Brown played trailing snot from a stinking cold. Table-toppers Bloxwich clearly fancied their chances and pressed hard early on. 1st team new boy Minton alongside Cartwright coped well with the onslaught, and it took a smart penalty corner routine to break the deadlock. Blox made it 2-0 with an excellent deflected finish, but then the pressure eased and Wulfs began to pick up more possession. Rich Roberts controlled the centre with some calm play an neat distribution, while Griffiths and Litchfield worked hard to turn the tide. Wulfs pulled one back thanks to a Mark Wilson penalty stroke, and it could have been two but for a pitch-divot interfering with his drag-flick. Talking of the pitch, it was an ice-rink. Players from both sides went flying on more than one occasion. The second half saw Wulfs dominate possession. Dave Cartright had to go off with a hamstring problem. Birch and Peters linked well to press on the right hand side while Wilson threw aerials from the left half position to great effect. Jandu once again caused problems when he could stay on his feet. Another near-miss but surely the wins will come soon.
