Match Report | A fifth loss out of five and Wulfs are well and truly rooted to the foot of the table, but still with hope that wins over the other strugglers could save us. Another bright start to a game, with the returning Dave Ward feeding Birch on the right and the solid midfield duo of Ablard and Roberts taking control. But the key moment came when Ablard had to retire early with hamstring trouble (so we blame everything that happened after on him). Palmer moved into the middle and Brown took over in the centre back position. Without the totemic Ablard Wulfs began to lose the ball and Wednesbury soon took the lead with a reverse stick effort. Despite creating a couple of chances Wulfs then found themselves 3-0 down by half time. The second half was a mirror of the first, apart from a sweet penalty corner strike from Ward to claw one back. Another game of opportunity, possibilities, but ultimately once again let down by two key failings: lack of goals scored and an inability to keep them out! |
