Match Report | Once again a close battle for Old Wulfs and once again frustrated by a lack of goals and a disputed umpire's decision. Under black Shropshire clouds and the threat of inundation Wulfs took on Ludlow and the well-known Pratt brothers. Simon Palmer largely neutralised the threat alongside ever-reliable Humpherson. At the other end Wulfs created chances with the re-formed partnership of Griffiths and Ashworth. Griffiths slipped a chance just wide when it looked like he'd score. Then in the last seconds of the first half Ludlow won a penalty corner. The shot was undercut high into the keeper's knee but another pc was inexplicably awarded; this time the back-board was crashed. Ludlow attempted to dominate possession in the second half and the game became scrappy. Wulfs still manufactured some chances, notably form a penalty corner deflected over the bar. The rain died away as did the chances of another goal until the last second of the match. Ludlow created the chance and just as the ball was placed into the goal the umpire blew the final whistle to finish it 1-0. |
