Match Report | A disappointing scoreline belies a promising performance. Wulfs, lacking midfield man Litchfield and Birch out with illness and injury respectively, moved new man Simon Palmer into midfield alongside Ablard. From the start Old Wulfs caused problems for Aldridge, without necessarily creating a lot of clear-cut chances. On a new pitch not dissimilar to WGS both sides relied on the heavy artillery to lob balls to the forward men. Lally's precision bombs found a scampering Jandu who in turn tormented the home defence, who hacked and slashed mercilessly having no other way to stop him. Wulfs over-complicated things a little when approaching the D, and Aldridge took the lead midway through the first half with a neatly deflected shot. With the lion's share of possession Wulfs still couldn't break through, although during the second period the Aldridge keeper made a stunning double save to deny man of the match Griffiths. As Wulfs pushed forward late on errors crept in and Aldridge grabbed two more to seal the points. A high quality team performance that nearly pulled off a shock result. |
