Match Report |
The badgers travelled to the Dell and while short on numbers, they were buoyed with festive spirit and keen to have a good game before the break. This was a family affair with three dads playing and as a result the Wall, Pearson, Jandu contingent dominated the squad. With a slightly relaxed and delayed start to the game, the badgers set the tone for the afternoon and spent much of the first half in Kingswinford’s half dominating in midlfield through George, Jack and Tom. This left the badgers exposed at the back and a break down the left by one of the opposition dressed as an elf (something we hadn’t trained for) gave Kingswinford an opening which they took, 1-0. Another similar break and a bumbling ball into the D led to a second. 2-0 at half time, the badgers unable to make use of their dominant possession and a number of chances. After a team talk led by Santa no less, the badgers, as ever, kept their heads up and came out in the second half positively. More fantastic possession and through continued pressure the badgers created an advent of chances. Callum eventually managed to squeeze one past the adult goalkeeper, 2-1 and there was a really positive buzz on the pitch. More pressure and a sack load of chances, and George went through to tap one in, 2-2. The game was there to be won, Kingswinford absorbed attack after attack and a number of short corners, but as the light faded the game ended a draw – a nice way to finish the first half of the season. Jack was named man of the match by his team.
